What is a Celebrity?

Celebrities are well-known people who have achieved fame through their talent, work or good looks. They are idolized and adored by many fans who follow their lives closely. They are often followed by the paparazzi and have a private life that is talked about in celebrity magazines or on the internet. They are also admired by many people who want to be just like them or have a relationship with them. They are able to make a big impact on society through their work.

In the past celebrities were known as gods and royalty but now it is a common thing for them to get involved in politics or other causes and promote these things. Some of these people are just trying to get their name out there and others are truly making a difference. These people are a huge inspiration to the public and can bring about a change in people’s thinking or action.

Most of the time celebrities are well-known for their talents in acting, singing or playing a sport. However, there are some who become famous for something that they do that is shocking or different. For example, Kim Kardashian became a celebrity through her reality TV show and her social media. She is now a powerful brand and is credited with changing the fashion industry. Another example is Madonna, who has been a controversial and influential musician for over 30 years.

Throughout history, people have sought fame to be remembered after their death. In classical and medieval times, actors, playwrights, humanists and philosophers were celebrities. The eighteenth century saw a growth in celebrity status as the printing press made it easier to distribute books and information about people to a wide audience. The actress Sarah Bernhardt was considered the godmother of modern celebrity. Her career coincided with several new inventions that contributed to her success, including photography and cheap mass-circulation newspapers. The telegraph and steamships allowed her to travel widely and quickly, and the penny press enabled people to buy her pictures and her doings.

In addition to individuals who are famous for what they do, there are also family dynasties that are considered celebrities. These include the royal families (often of interest when there is scandal) and artistic dynasties such as the Barrymore, Cassidy, Jackson and Kim Kardashian. There are also political dynasties such as the Kennedy and Roosevelt families. Celebrities can also be a part of groups or teams, such as the United States women’s gymnastics team or the members of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball club. Some are even famous for being themselves, such as YouTube star MrBeast or South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo.
