The emergence of hotel chains in the decades after World War II allowed for increased efficiency and economies of scale. In a chain operation, one company operates several hotels, allowing for shared administrative and support services such as finance, human resources, and accounting. Hotel chains have also expanded internationally in response to a growing demand for quality hotel services in foreign markets.
